Hey, Thanks for the responses to my previous email.
Here are my questions. This spring I am definitely purchasing a new bike.
I have a 2001 Suzuki GZ250, which has been a great starter bike. Can cruise comfortably
at 55-60 mph. The problem is, I get beat at stoplights by GEO Metros! Just not enough
power off the line. 15 years ago, I had a Honda 250 scooter that had more torque.
I am looking for a bike to commute to work on and to do some light touring on. (over night trips) I have been looking at all the bikes in the 500 to 650 range, Honda VLX 600, Kawasaki Vulcan 500 LTD, Yamaha 650 V-Star Custom and also the Suzuki Savage. I have not driven any of these vehicles yet, being winter in Illinois, I will be waiting a while. I like the idea of the Savage, great price, looks and simple design. I also like the idea of a light bike (easier to handle) I get on my friend’s V-Star Classic, man that’s a heavy monster. I wonder if 650cc is enough juice to lug that thing around.
I also am concerned about the single vs. twin engine. I don’t know enough about the pros & cons of each design. If anyone has any information about any of these other bikes or any comments, please respond. Thank you. Paul.
